Hilliard Elementary PTA Meeting
August 18, 2008
Attendance: Patty McHugh, Shelley Brizes, Tanya Langermeier, Laura May, Mary Flanagan, Kelly Gray, Candace VanDyke, Natalie Bohan, Heather Hurd, Denis Lowe, Lisa Forshey, Tony, Barb Massien, Randa Ibrahim, Robbie Curtis, Bernice Girgash, Bobbie Gibson, Betsy Kaiser, and Sara Chappel
Call To Order/Welcome: Patty McHugh called the meeting to order at 9:25am, at Clague Park. Inspiration: Many hands make light work. Committee Heads introduced themselves. Minutes from April 2007 meeting were passed around for approval.
- Reminder to turn in volunteer hours
- Storage space at the Board of Education to be discussed at Sept. meeting
- October meeting will be on the 9th instead of the 16th because of the Fall Festival.
- Fun Fair and Valentines party will be left on the same day.
- The Wellness Forum will be giving misc. items for parent/teacher or PTA meetings
- Leadership conference October 22 in North Olmsted.
- Reminded everyone to use www.ohiopta.org, if in need of anything. Username and password on back of card.
- Tax-exempt forms are available.
Tanya Langermeier will have Popsicles for first day distribution at 1:40pm.
Bobbie Gibson:
- Stage is cleaned, organized and ready for first day of school
- Enjoy the City books to be received in the next couple of days
Mary Flanagan:
- 3 new staff members
- Hilliard students did outstanding on Ohio testing.
- Changes of offices in the district
- Continuous improvement plan
Laura May:
- Audit completed
- Review of the 2008-2009 budget
- Looking for someone to manage the Giant Eagle Cards
- Reminded everyone to make checks out to the Hilliard PTA
Candace Van Dyke would like to be kept current on situations that would require a note.
Robbie Curtis said a scrapbook would be displayed on a shelf in the front lobby.
Bernice Girgash will have the teacher breakfast ready on August 29th.
Denis Lowe:
- Membership to PTA will be $10
- Theme is “K.I.S.S.” your child~Keeping Involved Sustains Success: Candy kisses
- Popcorn party for class with most membership by a set date
Betsy Kaiser passed a sign up sheet around for noon aid volunteers
Room mothers meeting will be held September 9th at 9:15 am in the cafeteria.
Tanya Langermeier discussed changing the Holiday Luncheon to an evening event to include working parents.
New Business:
- A Motion to purchase picnic tables was made by Robbie Curtis and seconded by Lisa Forshey. The motion was approved.
- Future purchases of 6-7 FM systems to finish school
Next meeting will be Thursday, September 18th at 9:00 am in the cafeteria.
Meeting adjourned at 10:43 am.
