Principally Speaking

Welcome back to school everyone! We have been working hard in preparation for this school year! Our building has been so quiet these past two months and it is wonderful to have the students back and the school full of energy!

If you have not joined our PTA this year please consider doing so. This is a wonderful organization that provides many activities, materials and support to our school.

The State Report Card was released this past week. Our district received an “Excellent with Distinction” rating. The addition of “with distinction” was added last year for any district that has met all the Ohio Academic Content Standards and has met AYP (Annual Yearly Progress) at least two consecutive years. This places us in a very elite group! There are over 600 districts in Ohio and we are among a handful to achieve this status! It is with great pride to inform our community that Westlake City Schools has received a 106.3 the highest “Performance Index Score” thus far! Dover Elementary School has received a 109.0! I am so proud of our students and staff! Congratulations to the staff, students and parents.
