Amherst District Meet 5/20 & 5/22

Placing at districts were the 4 x 400 team, 4 x 100 team, Shane Skelly in the high jump, Elias Chbeir in discus, Aaron Perkins and Adam Hamdan in the 200,  Mason Meek in the 400, and Jack St. Marie in the 1600 and 3200.

P4171778SWC Conference Meet  5/13 &  5/15/09

After getting off to a rough start on Wednesday the boys ended on several high notes on Friday.   Hamed Abu Hamdeh and Aaron Perkins took 4th and 6th in the 100 m dash, respectively…  (note that Aaron was the only non-senior to place in this event).  Our 4 x 100 team of Hanford Dixon Jr., Hamed Abu Hamdeh, Adam Hamdan, and Aaron Perkins placed fourth as well as the 4 x 400 team of Mason Meek, Rory Kelly, Sean Escolas, and Hamed Abu Hamdeh ran an incredible time of 3:28.17 while getting 3rd (barely out of 2nd place).   Elias Chbeir also took 6th in the shot put (the only sophomore that placed in this event), as well as Shane Skelly taking 6th in the high jump.

Westlake Relays 5/9/09

Click on the link above for complete results.  On Saturday the Demon were very competitive against some tough teams and did a great job on their home track taking 5th place out of 8 teams.  New PR’s occurred in the 4 x 200 and 4 x 800, and the field events had possibly their best showing all year.  This was their last meet before the conference meet which begins this upcoming Wednesday 5/13. 

 

 

Berea Relays 5/1/09

In some very rough weather the Demons ran very tough on Friday night, and even though the three Alex’s did not get to pole vault because of the weather the Demons scored 50 team points.  Freshman Robert Schill placed in the 3200 m run with a new personal record time of 10:47.  Relay teams in the Shot Put, Discus, High Jump, 4 x 400, 4 x 800, 4 x 100, 4 x 200 and shuttle hurdles all placed. Track Meet North Olmsted 4/29/09

On Wednesday the Westlake Boys Track team lost a close meet to North Olmsted by a score of 75-62.  The boys won the 4 x 100 relay with the team of Perkins, Abu Hamdeh, Dixon Jr, and Hamdan,  as well as the 4 x 200 relay of Meek, Abu Hamdeh, Perkins, and Hamdan.    In pole vault Alex Schultz got first, and Alex Cahill second.  Elias Chbeir picked up two 2nd places in the shot and discus.  The 4 x 800 relay of Jack St. Marie, Rory Kelly, Mason Meek, and Sean Escolas got 1st along with the 4 x 400 relay of Meek, Kelly, Escolas, and Abu Hamdeh.  Other strong individual performances were had by Rob Schill, Jack St. Marie, Rory Kelly, Aaron Perkins, Adam Hamdan, Hamed Abu Hamdeh Chris Screen, P1000668Chris Renkel, Josh Buzzard, and Alex Tegel as well as many new personal records by our underclassmen.  Great job Demons! 

 

Comet Relays 4/25/09

Facing the toughest field of competition this year the Demons got several Athletes and relay teams on the board…. Hamed Abu Hamdeh scored 7th in the 100 m dash.  The shuttle hurdles team of Alex Cusick, Stuart Jennings, Chris Screen and Chris Renkel scored 7th  and the 4 x 400 team of Mason Meek, Rory Kelly, Sean Escolas, and Hamed Abu Hamdeh scored 5th .

 

 

Track Meet Olmsted Falls 4/22/09

On Wednesday night the Westlake Boys ran a great meet against Olmsted Falls, losing 82-55.  P1000651Performing well for the Demons was Elias Chbeir who achieved another personal best of 47 ft 6 inches while getting first in the shot put, as well as second in the discus.  Other strong performances included Mason Meek getting first in the open 400 as well as part of the winning  4 x 400 team that included Rory Kelly, Sean Escolas, and Hamed Abu Hamdeh.  Jack St. Marie also achieved 2 first place finishes, in the 3200 as well as part of the winning 4x800 team that included Rory Kelly, Pete Ogonek, and Sean Escolas.  The Demon boys will be competing in the very competitive Comet Relays in Amherst this Saturday.

Easily the best meet of the year for the Westlake Boy’s track team.  The demons tied for 2nd place out of 6 teams, losing only to St. Ed’s by a score of 134 to 104.  Many athletes had season best marks in their events.  Elias Chbeir continued improving in the Shot Put with a mark of 44ft 11 in.  The 4 x 800 team of St. Marie, Kelly, Ogonek and Escolas posted a season best mark of 8:36, improving by 8 seconds off of their previous best time.  The 4 x 100 also got a new best mark of 44.4 sec.  The 4x400 (Meek, Kelly, Escolas, Abu Hamdeh) possibly made the single best improvement with a mark of 3:31.3, improving by 7 seconds off of their previous best, while each of the four runners ran their best times of the year.  In addition to setting a new personal best in his 4 x 800 split, Jack St. Marie also set a new personal mark this year of 10:01 in the 3200. Other individual bests were put up by Aaron Perkins (11.3 sec) in the 100, and Mason Meek (52.9 sec) in the 400.

Track Meet vs. Amherst 4/15/09

With  several key field event competitors missing Westlake lost a very competitive meet to Amherst by a score of 69 to 67.  Westlake swept all four of the relays, and had a number of great individual performances in the open events. Placing athletes included Mason Meek (400, 4x400, 4x 200), Elias Chbeir(shot and discus), Chris Renkel(300 h), Sean Escolas (300h, 4x400, 4x800), Rory Kelly(400, 4x400,4x800), Josh Buzzard (4x800), Robert Schill(1600,3200), Josh Schmidt(3200), Hamed Abu Hamdeh(100,4x100, 4x200, 4x400), Aaron Perkins (100,200, 4x100, 4x200), Hanford Dixon Jr. (4x100) , Adam Hamdan(200, 4x100, 4x200), Jack St.  Marie(4x800, 1600, 3200), and Alex Cahill(pole vault).  New personal records were set by Mason Meek 53.1 sec in the 400, Elias Chbeir 44 ft in the shot put, Robert Schill 5:01 in the 1600 and 11:10 in the 3200, and John Rodriguez 38 ft 7 in in the shot put, along with a new season mark of 4:38 for Jack St. Marie in the 1600.

Several Relay teams performed strongly during this relay meet featuring 14 of the areas toughest track & field teams.  The 4 x 100 team of Hanford Dixon Jr., Hamed Abu Hamdeh, Adam Hamdan, and Aaron Perkins turned in a team personal record of 44.6 seconds and placed 6th.  Other relay teams placing in the top 6included the 4x400 (Meek, Kelly, Escolas, and Hamdah), Distance Medley (Peter Ogonek, Austin Mazurik, Robert Schill, and Jack St. Marie), High Jump (Skelly, Hamdan, Screen), Pole Vault (Cahill, Buza, and Schultz), and Shuttle Hurdles.  For complete results go to …http://www.baumspage.com/track/medinarelays/res09.htm 

 

Track meet vs. Avon Lake   4/8/09

The Westlake Boys track team lost a hard fought track meet Wednesday night to Avon Lake by a score of 82 – 53 as several Demons achieved new personal records.  Strong performances by the Demons included Jack St. Marie getting 1st in the 1600 and 2nd in the 3200 as well as getting first as part of the 1st place 4x800 relay team along with Rory Kelly, Peter Ogonek and Sean Escolas.  There was also another strong performance by Alex Schultz getting 1st in the Pole Vault and 2nd in the Long Jump along with Shane Skelly getting 1st in the High Jump.  Other Demons that placed include Chris Renkel 110 hurdles, Chris Screen in the 110 hurdles and high jump, Sean Escolas in the 300 hurdles, Alex Cahill in the Pole Vault,  Hanford Dixon in Long Jump,   Hamed Abu Hamdeh in the 100,  Aaron Perkins in the 100 and 200, John Phillip in the 200,  Rory Kelly and Mason Meek in the 400, and Elias Chbeir in the Discus.  Also a new personal record in the shot put by Alex Tegel was set with a throw of 38 ft 4 in.  Great job Demons!

 

 

Track Meet Vs. Medina   3/31/09

The boys track & field team began their season Tuesday night in a hard fought meet against a tough Medina team, losing by a final Score of 88.5 to 51.5.  Strong individual performances included two first place finishes by Aaron Perkins in the 100 and 200 as well as Alex Tegel finishing first in the shot put and 2nd in the discus along with Elias Chbeir who finished 1st  in the Discus.  Alex Schultz also finished 3rd in long jump and 2nd in the pole vault.  Other placing athletes included Rory Kelly in the 400, Jack St. Marie in the 3200, Adam Hamdan in the 200,  Hamed Abu Hamdeh in the 100, Shane Skelley in the High Jump, Josh Buzzard in the 800, and Sean Escolas in the 300m hurdles.  Great job Demons!
